Valentine

Rock Candy is no stranger to bad timing and misfired opportunities. For most people the results are of no great consequence but occasionally, the repercussions - especially with years of hindsight to put the loss into perspective - are truly lamentable. The failure of Valentine's sole album is one such case in point. If any melodic rock band should have made a huge international splash then this should have been the one. Formed in New York during the mid-'80's and fronted by the sensational vocalist Hugo Valenti, the band soon made friends amongst the NY music business cognoscenti, leading to major management opportunities (Michael Bolton's manager Louis Levin) and a coveted major label deal with Columbia Records. It was easy to see why they attracted such a passionate reaction, armed with music that was not only powerful and memorable but also displayed a songwriting ability that left the competition in the dust. Amazingly the band's fortunes took a nose dive when executive changes at the label left them high and dry, forcing them to switch to another company, Giant Records, helmed by industry heavyweight Irving Azoff. Produced by Neil Kernon (Autograph, Queensryche, Lynch Mob) the album was eventually released in late 1990, and it received a great reception from the melodic rock aficionados. Packed with incredible songs, ranging from gilt-lined AOR such as 'Runnin' On Luck Again', 'Too Much Is Never Enough', to the pomp blast of 'Where Are You Now' and Once In A Lifetime'. But the icing on the cake must surely be 'Never Said It Was Gonna Be Easy', one of the greatest power ballads of all time.

Venom

UK metal titans 5th studio album, VENOM, will street on 8/14th via RCA Records. Produced by Carl Bown and Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, Trivium) at Metropolis Studio in London, VENOM is an unrelenting, fierce step forward for Bullet For My Valentine. Their heaviest record to date sinks its teeth into listeners with a powerful delivery by vocalist/guitarist Matt Tuck, ferocious riffs by guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget and rapid-fire rhythm courtesy of drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas. On VENOM the trio maintains their signature balance of heavy, coupled with surging melody, and pushes themselves to the next level. Bullet For My Valentine's progression of sound is evident on VENOM, presenting a harder delivery and a more complex song structure, as witnessed on the band's crushing new track, "No Way Out." In addition to the news of the upcoming record, Bullet For My Valentine has also announced they've recruited fellow Welsh musician Jamie Mathias to join the band as their new bass player and backup vocalist.

Scream Aim Fire

Scream Aim Fire

2008 album from the Welsh rockers who exploded onto the international music scene in 2006 and 2007. The album was produced by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Funeral For A Friend) and recorded at Sonic Ranch just outside of El Paso, TX in early 2007, and is, according to front man Matthew "Matt" Tuck, "really melodic Heavy Metal: catchy, hooky choruses and full-on vocals with the music being very in-your-face and heavy. It's a lot more up-tempo than The Poison, a lot more aggressive."

Mbv

Highly anticipated and long awaited 2013 album from the British Alt-Rock icons led by the esteemed Kevin Shields. MBV is the follow-up to their genre-defining 1991 album Loveless. Since reuniting in 2007, Shields and Co. have been promising a new album but in typical MBV fashion, it took years for this release to finally emerge, originally via the band's label and website, to unanimous praise.
