“The Language of Flowers III: Irises" SIGNED Glossy Photo Art Print by Jasmine Becket-Griffith

“The Language of Flowers III: Irises" SIGNED Glossy Photo Art Print by Jasmine

This piece debuted as part of "The Shape of Things to Come" show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York City. The third painting in my new series "The Language of Flowers." The Language of Flowers refers to the Victorian notion of "floriography" - assigning hidden (usually romantically inclined) meanings to different flowers and plants. Rather than speaking or writing the words in a letter, a person could send a bouquet of flowers and the recipient would (assuming they understood the language of flowers) understand the hidden message. Irises (one of my all time favourites) traditionally meant Faith, Hope & Wisdom, so I have given this corresponding beauty a rather hopeful gleam in her eye.

Design Toscano Tete a Tete Kissing Garden Bench

Design Toscano Tete a Tete Kissing Garden

From the French meaning head-to-head, this romantically inspired bench creates an instant kissing spot in home or garden. Designed with graceful arcs and spirals, even the sun itself casts beautiful shadows as it plays through the powder-coated tubular metal that arches to fashion this high-quality, nearly four-foot-long work of art.

“The Language of Flowers II: Pansies" SIGNED Glossy Photo Art Print by Jasmine Becket-Griffith

“The Language of Flowers II: Pansies" SIGNED Glossy Photo Art Print by Jasmine

This piece debuted as part of my "Allusions and Allegories" show at the Corey Helford Gallery in LA. The second painting in my new series "The Language of Flowers." The Language of Flowers refers to the Victorian notion of "floriography" - assigning hidden (usually romantically inclined) meanings to different flowers and plants. Rather than speaking or writing the words in a letter, a person could send a bouquet of flowers and the recipient would (assuming they understood the language of flowers) understand the hidden message. Specifically this is "The Language of Flowers II: Pansies" - and in that language, pansies mean "you are always in my thoughts!"
